Pavilion Build
The pavilion design build was a short 1 week based project, carried out over spring break. Organized by Module leads and event organizers, it was created with the purpose of storing and displaying written research submissions for the research and design strategies module (RADS) at UWE. The short term group based project, with a team made up of multi disciplinary students and some tutors, helped in developing key skills such as interdisciplinary team working, communication, problem solving and working under time constraints.
The concept was to create a shelf made out of a set of trapezoidal shapes where tutors could display student's booklets. The choice for this shape was derived through its innate ability resist lateral forces, considering people would constantly be interacting with it. The shelf itself would be made of thinly cut wooden panels and help together using 9mm screws and 15mm dowels dipped in PVA glue.
Selected Pages from History of Architecture Sketchbook
Alongside Collaborative Practice, History of Architecture was another module where I had achieved a mark of 80%, Exceptional Distinction. From discussions with the module leader I learnt that my sketchbook and written research is being used as exemplary work for the students of upcoming year groups. Comments included:
"Shows an original, transformative aspect towards historical frameworks comprehension" "Shows an original, polished and imaginative approach to graphic and analytical presentation"
Prosperity and the Battle of the Styles
Designing the Fin-De-Siecle and After
Too Cheap to Metre. Mid century Modernism. The International Style
Detail Projection
An early year workshop task given in the technical module to project a simple given detail into the 3rd Dimension. The task was designed to develop my understanding for, when working with 2D details, how the different components of the buildings work to create the fabric and structure.
The technical module, Advanced Technology and Environment, was a module where I consistently received Distinctions, with the lowest mark being a 74%. This module has supported me a lot in developing technical and sustainable understandings on a variety of typologies.
