GROUND FOR REVIVAL
The Manifesto for the project in Frenchay Village, Bristol, encapsulates a vision deeply rooted in the area's rich agricultural and architectural history while steering towards a future centred around sustainability and community empowerment. Therefore, this project will serve two purposes: First is designing to be a precedent for Frenchay' s rich history in agriculture. Secondly: Becoming a hub for actively engaging the community with the public building and it's landscapes being of public use to all demographics of the community.
FRENCHAY VILLAGE
The site for the project is a new build area of Frenchay Village, Bristol, surrounded by new Redrow housing developments amidst a historic village with listed buildings. Cheswick Village, nearby, is precedented to it's heritage enshrouded by such developments and grimaced with mere sign stating "Romans once lived here". My project aims to prevent this.
Site Context
Conservation
In 2007, Supplementary Planning Documents by South Gloucestershire Council were created with concerns raised about this degradation of the land. But the concerns spread further to other preservations needs. These included Nature Conservation areas, Historic Parks, Listed Buildings and even locally indigenous animals/habitats. By reviewing what they had enlisted as part of the Conservation and preservation policies, identifications were able to be made as to what it was the locals and council cared most for and what actions were going to be made in response. These identifiers would draw valuable information as to how the project in Frenchay Village should be designed in adherence and respect for what the council and locals value/ want preserving

THE VISION
Catering to the needs of Frenchay Village, the community garden centre will serve as a celebratory symbol reviving and continuing long lasted generational cultures and traditions. Through means of [Re]-Imagining, the typology will set the new benchmark for what it means to design a typology revolving around community values.
